HOW WE STARTED

TREŠNJOBER KINDERGARTEN WAS FOUNDED IN 2001

Trešnjober is a private preschool in Belgrade, founded in 2001 by Ljiljana Proković, a graduate special education teacher. Accredited by the Ministry of Education, Trešnjober offers a nurturing, high-quality early learning environment where every child is encouraged to grow, explore, and thrive.

Since our founding, we have been guided by the idea of being a true partner to families — a source of support in every child’s journey of growing up, and a place where every child feels loved, respected, and safe. Our goal is not only to foster each child’s development and progress, but also to become a meaningful part of their childhood — a place they will remember with a smile and return to in their hearts, even as they grow older.

Our main office is located in Vračar, at 37 Đorđa Vajferta Street – Trešnjober Kindergarten Vračar.

Every Trešnjober kindergarten is thoughtfully designed and fully equipped according to modern standards, creating safe, inspiring spaces tailored to each child’s age and developmental needs.

AGE-APPROPRIATE PROGRAMS

At our kindergartens, we offer four educational programs thoughtfully designed to match each stage of a child’s development:

  • Nursery – for children aged 1 to 3 years
  • Kindergarten – for children aged 3 to 5.5 years
  • Preschool preparatory program – for children aged 5.5 to 7 years
  • After-school care – for children from 1st to 4th grade

OUR APPROACH

At Trešnjober kindergartens, we nurture a holistic approach to children’s learning and development. Here, children don’t learn by mechanically memorizing content — they learn with their whole being: through play, real-life experiences, relationships, and self-initiated exploration.

Our work is based on integrated learning, where emotions, movement, thought, and interaction come together to form a complete developmental journey. Children are not passive observers — they explore, create, and grow guided by their own interests and needs.

At Trešnjober, we see each child as capable, curious, and naturally eager to learn. We believe that children aren’t empty vessels to be filled, but explorers with an innate drive to discover the world around them and build meaningful connections. In daily interactions with peers and adults, they develop emotional, social, intellectual, and motor skills as a seamless whole — because real learning isn’t fragmented into separate parts, but unfolds as one rich, living journey.

Our educators are facilitators and supporters of children’s development, rather than traditional instructors. Their role is to:

  • create an environment for shared learning and exploration
  • listen carefully to children’s questions, interests, and initiatives
  • continually improve their practice through research-based and reflective approaches

At Trešnjober, the educator is the heart of the institution, and we support their professional growth through professional development and teamwork.

For us, inclusion is not an obligation – it is a right. The right of every child, parent, and educator to be different and to feel accepted in that difference.

We believe that we are not all the same – rather, we are all equally different, and it is precisely this diversity that enriches us all. That is why:

  • we don’t create programs FOR children, but WITH children
  • every child has a voice in choosing content, topics, and ways of working
  • at Trešnjober, every child belongs and feels seen, accepted, and respected.
